[Ontbirds] Fifty Point, Grimsby - Nov 23 - Purple Sandpipers, Cackling Geese etc.

Birders,

Today at Fifty Point C.A. in Grimsby, my dad and I had:

2 Purple Sandpipers on the eastern most rock point (closest to Kelson rd.)
2 Northern Shrike's (one adult, one young bird - actually chased each other
and gave loud calls)
2 Cackling Geese - in the main pond.. with one un-identified Canada/Cackler

Later in the day, we ran into Barry Cherriere and Kevin McLaughlin at the
end of Gray's rd. in Stoney Creek. We saw the hybrid Barrow's X Common
Goldeneye, and then moved down the beach closer to Van Wagner's where we had
a Black-legged Kittiwake close to shore after a feeding frenzy.

50 Point Conservation Area:

QEW Niagara, exit at Fifty Road  (between Fruitland Road and Casablanca Road

Grimsby) towards the lake (north) and follow the signs to Fifty
Point Conservation Area. There is an entrance fee.

The pond with the Cackling Geese is in the centre of the park, the Shrike's
were in this same area around the north part of the pond.
