>From the viewing stand at the marsh at about noon, I counted 353 Sandhill Cranes rising up in small groups of 4 to 15 and heading inland towards the farm fields.? The marsh is frozen over except for a few areas in the center, which was filled with thousands of ducks and geese and included were several hundred Tundra Swans, 10 more Sandhill Cranes and 2 Great Blue Herons.? A lot of these birds were?resting?on the ice.? There was continual movement as huge numbers would rise up and leave while others were arriving.? Flying?over the marsh?were 3 Northern Harriers and sitting in a nearby tree was a Bald Eagle.

Directions: Follow highway 59 south right to the end.? The first viewing stand is on the right halfway along the causeway.? From there you can see the second viewing stand.
