On the Christmas Bird Count of the Penokean HIlls Field Naturalists
   - Friday December 16, 2007 -we saw a belted kingfisher at Sherriff
Creek Sanctuary in Elliot Lake. We saw her again on Saturday. She is
around the first bridge on the causeway where the water is running and
will probably remain until the water freezes completely.

Also seen on the CBC was a hoary redpoll among the common redpolls,
gray jays, bald eagles, red tail hawk, pine grosbeaks, red breasted
nuthatch, ruffed grouse, and during count week - a glaucous gull and a
   black backed woodpecker.

Elliot Lake is located half way between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie.

"If everybody in the world was a birdwatcher, the world would be a
better place. You start caring about other living things and get away
from this me, me, me stuff." Robert Bateman
