Hi Birders
So glad to hear that the yellow-throated warbler is eating the special suet
mix. I hope it contiues to survive in this difficult winter environment.
I'd be happy to share the recipe for this mix:
-1 lb lard
- a couple of generous spoonfuls of peanut butter
- soften in microwave but do not liquify.......add corn meal til thick
....... store in refrigerator
- crumble on the snow, place in platform feeder, add to suet log, or spread
on the bark of a tree
I had a myrtle warbler eating this mix for a couple of weeks in early
December. It can also be used crumbled for bluebirds. Woodpeckers also
love it.
