At 1:30 pm there were six Greater White-fronted Geese on the ice at
the Port Hope Yacht Club. This is at the head of the channel
immediately to the east of the Cameco plant, not in the river.

The geese were with dozens of Canada Geese, but luckily they were on
the outer edge of the flock and thus nearest to the road. They all
had their heads tucked under their wings, but there was no mistaking
the orange legs and dark barring on the undersides of two of the birds.

The birds were seen from Hayward St. in Port Hope. From 401 to
Ontario St. thence to Mill as per Margaret Bain's instructions, but
Hayward does not cross the river and you can't access it directly
from Mill St. I believe the route is Mill south to Robertson, right
(east) to John, south on John under the old railway bridge to
Hayward, turn left and the head of the channel is on your right hand
side.

Jim - you turned off a hundred yards too soon! I was barking at Dave
for not following you when we saw the channel.
