Hello Ontbirders

This morning I made a detour on my way to Peterborough to check out
the Port of Newcastle. As soon as I stepped out of my car an untagged
juvenile Trumpeter Swan and a yellow-wing tagged adult #075 ran over
to me. They seemed to have me mistaken for someone else (someone with
food no doubt). When I left about 30 minutes later, they again rushed
me. The adult seemed to be considering eating the car keys out of my
hand.
In the harbour I easily located the 4 Greater White-fronted Geese
together in a large flock of Canadas.
There was also one other "white-fronted" goose. It was a hybrid, I
would guess a domestic x Canada cross. In addition to the white
forecrown it also had orange legs, but the bill was black and the
bird was as large as the Canadas it was hanging out with beside the
parking area.

Also of interest when I stepped out of my car in Peterborough I was
greeted with the sound of a Northern Cardinal singing.

Directions to Port of Newcastle:

Exit Highway 401 at Mill Street exit 440. Go south under the bridge.
Turn left at the all way stop. Follow the road south to the parking
lot by the lake.

Good Birding
