At 11am on Monday, Feb.25, 3 of us were enjoying the waterfowl in Whitby harbour, when, perchance, I looked across to distant trees on the west side--a big bird sat perched on high. Scoping revealed it to be an adult Bald Eagle. This beautiful raptor "exchanged trees" twice. After 20 minutes he took off to fly westward.
On the water of the harbour were many Scaups and Common Goldeneyes, along with a few Redheads, Buffleheads and Long-tailed Ducks, and a Ring-necked Duck.
Exit 401 at Brock St., Whitby--south, straight down to the roadside parking lot on the west side.
