It was a wonderful day for bird watching, low wind, clear conditions and the birds seemed to be taking advantage as soon as they could, moving quickly from place to place.

- Paris - Grand River - William Street and East River Road
Lots of Common Mergansers on the Grand River in the sheltered south-facing pools, along with at least five male Goldeneyes, one female. Spent lots of time looking at one Merganser trying to decide whether it was a Red Breasted (had a mottled grey rump and back), but decided it was more likely a juvenile.

- Paris / St. George - Blue Lake Road just west of Hoodless Homestead
A small flock of "thalo-blue" bluebirds, five or six, blew across the road like a magician's trick.

- Lynden and Sheffield Roads and 4th Concession
Horned Larks very common along roadsides and on patchy fields, dashing across the roads. Three red-tailed hawks, two flying along Reg. Rd. 552 at Safari Rd.

- Downey Road (Cty. Rd. 35) just south of Cty. Rd. 34
Turkey vulture tilting with the breeze over a sheltered, hilly farm. Hundreds of starlings swarming the adjacent hydro tower.
