[Ontbirds]Carden-Upland Sandpiper& L. Shrike

This morning Maureen Smith and I birded the Carden Alvar.  On Wylie Rd there were 4+ Upland Sandpipers both seen and heard, a Vesper Sparrow, Field Sparrows, Brown Thrashers, Eastern Towhees, Eastern Bluebirds and Wilson Snipe.  To the east of Wylie Rd at a known [but undisclosed] nesting site there was a Loggerhead Shrike.

Directions:  From the Kirkfield Lift Lock go north and turn right(east) on McNamee Rd then immediately turn left (north) on Wylie.  The road north of the marsh is in poor shape and snow is still present in the shaded areas.  Big ruts.  The grader has not been along.
