Visitors:
Today's visitors included Nadine Litwin's Bird Studies class of about 20
from Niagara College, Brian Mills from Guelph, Paul Summerskill, Brandon
Holden and Lauren, plus a few others for brief periods.
Weather:
Mostly sunny with some high thin cloud. Winds light to moderate from the
east northeast off the lake keeping temperatures to the mid-teens on the
tower. A bank of cumulus clouds was visible to the south during the
afternoon.
Raptor Observations:
Disappointingly small flight with not too much variety. Many birds were
missing feathers in the wings sparking rumours of an earlier rumble. :-)
Non-raptor Observations:
A flock of 8 Double-crested Cormorant flew north at 4:10 EDT. Several
Common Loon flew west. Two Brown Thrasher below a feeder, 2 Eastern
Phoebe, Field Sparrow and White-throated Sparrow but generally few
migrants.

Site Description:
Beamer Conservation Area is located on top of the Niagara Escarpment above
the town of Grimsby, Ontario. The site is 1km south of the south shore of
Lake Ontario, 20km east of Hamilton, 40km west of Niagara Falls.
Directions to site:
To get to Beamer CA, take the QEW to Exit 72, follow Christie St./Mountain
St. to the top of the escarpment, turn right on Ridge Road West, and go
1.6km to Quarry Rd. Turn right on Quarry Rd. and drive 100m to the
conservation area. Parking is normally available inside the park. If
parking at the entrance or on the roads, do NOT leave valuables in your
car.
