Jack Romanow, Colin Gaskell and I spent an excellent day birding in the Ottawa area from Richmond out to Casselman and back including a little pre-dawn owling.  Collectively we recorded 100 species, the highlights were as follows:
 
Barred Owl - (~4) calling on Bleeks, Munster and Kettles roads west of Richmond
Virginia Rail - (2) Constance Creek at Vance's Sideroad, calling at dawn
Eastern Towhee (3) - Carp Ridge
Yellow Warbler (1) - Carp Ridge
Black-and-White Warbler (1) - Shirley's Bay Boat Launch
Horned Grebe - (10+) - off the Boat Launch at Shirley's Bay
Red-necked Grebe - (12+) - off the Boat Launch at Shirley's Bay
Common Tern (1) - off the Boat Launch at Shirley's Bay
American Coot - 1 - Embrun Sewage Lagoons
Gray Partridge - St. Albert Sewage Lagoons (along the row of trees on the east side of the cells)
Greater Yellowlegs (15) - St. Albert Sewage Lagoons
Lesser Yellowlegs (4) - St. Albert Sewage Lagoons
Dunlin (1) - St. Albert Sewage Lagoons
Pectoral Sandpiper (1) - St. Albert Sewage Lagoons
Wilson's Phalarope (1 female) - St. Albert Sewage Lagoons
Spotted Sandpiper (2) - Casselman Sewage Lagoons
Snow Goose - 3,000 in the fields east of Johnson Road east of Bourget
