2-Northern Flicker, 1-Eastern King Bird, numerous Double-breasted Cormorant, 1-Northern Mockingbird, first spotted as it flying, slow wing flaps and white patches and 6-brown-headed cowbird seen this morning in the fog at Ross G Lord Park following my sons riding at CARD.
19:15 this evening I could see blue skies coming from the west, so I walked up the corner to Headwaters Community Park for a brief outing. Song Sparrows, counted 6, heard more. White-throated Sparrow, heard and watched one. This is a bird I that brings back memories, as the only place I had ever heard and saw the bird was each summer in my grandmothers backyard, Timmins, Ontario. I have been hearing them in the neighbourhood for the last 2 years. Numerous Red-winged black birds. One Great Blue Heron. Numerous American Goldfinch, and 2 very large Beavers who have flooded the fields and clear cut the trees. The 2 large reservoirs on Redstone and Shirley appear to have the Mute Swans setting up nest.
Ross G Lord Park, Dufferin and Finch.
Headwaters Community Park, Richmond Hill, Major Mackenzie and Leslie.
P.S. my wife was at the ponds behind Walmart (Major Mackenzie and Frank Endean/Cassata). She noted a "sea gull" that had a black cap on the head, black wing tips with a very visible bright orange beak. I am heading over Sunday morning for a look. Any thoughts as to what it might have been? Caspian Tern, perhaps?
