Birded West Perth Wetlands Saturday morning from 7:30-10:00amImmediate up the path from the parking lot i had excellent views of Adult and Young Sora. I was able to watch them for about 10 minutes before they calmly walked back into the brush out of view. The adult remained weary and did not stray far from the edge of the brush, but the young continued foraging despite my presence.Overall, the number of shorebirds appears to be far lower than a few weeks ago. Still primarily lesser yellowlegs (perhaps 4 dozen)...but i did see at least one greater yellowlegs, 3 least sandpiper, 3 spotted sandpiper, 1 pectoral sandpiper and many killdeer. There were very few Mallards (surprisingly), but there were more than 3 dozen blue-winged teals, and at least one green-winged teal. 2 Great Blue Heron, many song sparrows, many goldfinch, many eastern kingbirds, many RWBB.Also seen were 8 young Bobolink. These landed about 10 ft from me while i was croutched in the brush watching the yellowlegs (at the back edge of the back pond furthest from the parking area). They remained there when i left - though they moved a little further away. Sorry for the delay in posting, but i had to get some help confirming the ID on the young Bobolink.

Directions, coming from the East i take Hwy 8 through Stratford into Mitchell and turn left on Wellington St. Continue to the end of the street and onto the gravel road. There is a parking area with a garden and a sign "West Perth Wetlands". There is also a sign on Hwy 8 at Wellington (which i noticed for the first time yesterday).

Good Birding,
